Optimizing Oil Mist Removal with the MistEliminator

Oil mist must be captured to protect your staff’s health, create a safe work environment, and extend the lifespan of your machinery and tools.

What Causes Oil Mist?

Oil mist arises when fast-moving tools and hot surfaces come into contact with metalworking fluids, such as coolants and/or lubricants used in processes such as CNC machines. Metalworking fluids help to reduce heat and friction between cutting tools and work pieces, improving work piece quality, and preventing burning and smoking.

The main operations* that cause oil mist are:

  • Machine tool processes for shaping, such as cutting, drilling, honing, and boring
  • Surface treatment using an abrasive, such as wet grinding and polishing
  • Forming processes to shape metal and sheet metal components: cold heading, deep drawing, and stamping
  • Heat treatment such as material hardening
  • Part washers that clean metal components with oil, water, and pressure
  • Electrical Discharge Machine to shape metal uses electrical discharge processes

Oil mist can take many forms, including (but not limited to): fumes, smoke, fog, vapor, gases, drops, or aerosols. Depending on the mist produced at your facility, a different filtration approach may be required. This is where the MistEliminator comes in.

Introducing the MistEliminator

The MistEliminator is a modular filtration system that effectively reduces the background concentration of oil mist in lathes or CNC machines during metalworking processes. The filter unit and banks are modular and custom-tailored to your facility’s unique needs.

Recirculation ensures that expensively heated or cooled air stays within the workplace. The MistEliminator can be outfitted with additional HEPA filters to help you save on energy and HVAC expenses.

MistEliminator Advantages

  • Comply with health and safety standards
  • Minimize health risks in the workplace by reducing and limiting exposure to hazardous fluids and oil mist
  • Create a safer work environment and reduce fire risks
  • Improve productivity and increase work morale due to clean air at work
  • Shorten operation intervention time with a clean atmosphere in CNC machines
  • Decrease maintenance and operational costs
  • Prolong the lifespan of machinery and tools
  • Safeguard sensitive high-tech equipment
  • Maintain clear sight within closed CNC machines
  • Achieve energy savings with recirculation

Contact us today to learn more about how the MistEliminator can optimize oil mist management and benefit your facility.
