Robotic Welding: Fume Hood

Plymovent Canada

A fume hood is an ideal solution when welding needs to be isolated from the rest of the facility. This is especially common with robotic or automatic welding. In certain instances, it may be more effective to isolate welding and cutting workspaces. A typical situation would be when welding robots move along a rail system. Under these circumstances, extraction hoods are an excellent method to remove welding fumes near the process. Extraction hoods reduce the amount of welding fumes, small particles, fine dust, mist, and aerosols in the workspace. Through our partnership with Plymovent, we can help you address this need. The Plymovent FlexHood is a modular extraction hood designed for robotic welding applications or when workspace isolation is required. The FlexHood is specifically designed to protect welders, personnel, as well as your equipment and facility. Deflection plates built into the hood control airflow and reduce the risk of sparks reaching the filter. Welding strips serve to protect personnel working nearby from the welding light, while simultaneously protecting equipment from sparks and spatter. Plymovent designers and engineers have designed the FlexHood to overcome key logistic issues. Its modular design is a breakthrough in logistics and handling, allowing the FlexHood to be easily transported and assembled on-site with minimal disruption.
